Event Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

The Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council (FSMSDC) is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or technology choices.  We do not tolerate harassment of attendees or staff members in any form. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for attendee behavior as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

2. Expected Behavior

Respect and Courtesy: Treat all attendees and staff members with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.

Inclusivity: Actively seek to include others and ensure that your conduct is welcoming and inclusive to all attendees.

Communication: Communicate openly and thoughtfully with others and be considerate of the multitude of views and opinions that are different from your own.

Consent: Obtain clear consent before engaging in physical interactions. Respect personal space and boundaries.

Professionalism: Engage in respectful dialogue, constructive criticism, and intellectual debate. Avoid aggressive behavior, including shouting or threats.

Compliance: Follow all rules and regulations outlined by the FSMSDC organizers and venue.

3. Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment and Discrimination: Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, technology choices, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Violence: Physical or verbal abuse, threats, or any form of violence.

Intimidation: Any form of intimidation, bullying, or coercive behavior.

Inappropriate Behavior: Lewd or sexually suggestive behavior, offensive jokes, and inappropriate gestures or comments.

4. Reporting Unacceptable Behavior

Immediate Reporting: If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a staff member immediately. FSMSDC staff will be clearly identified and available to assist participants.

Confidentiality: Reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality to the extent possible.

5. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Warning: Attendees asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Expulsion: FSMSDC organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event without a refund.

Law Enforcement: For severe cases, FSMSDC organizers may involve local law enforcement.

6. Acknowledgment

By participating in this event, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and cooperate with FSMSDC organizers who enforce it.
